Most people stop camping in October. A canvas hot tent is how you keep going. TC cotton canvas, a built-in stove jack with an adjustable chimney opening, and a center-free frame that leaves the middle of your floor open. A 4-season shelter that sleeps four to six.
Wood stove sold separately. Full dimensions and specifications on the product page.
Shelters for people who camp past the end of the season. Canvas hot tents with a built-in stove jack take a wood stove, so you can dry gear and sleep warm when the overnight low is in the teens. Fast-pitch tents go up in minutes with the poles already attached, which matters when you roll into camp after dark.
Pick by season and setup time. Hot tents are heavier and warmer. Fast-pitch tents are quicker and pack smaller. Halve the capacity on the box for a stove tent: allow 25 to 30 square feet per person for sleeping and another 20 for the stove and its clearance.
New to this? Read what to know before you buy a canvas hot tent, which covers fabric, floor area and the stove safety kit. Then see the sleeping bags and liners and the cots, pads and air mattresses that go under them.
Built-In Stove Jack: Heat You Can Actually Live With
The stove jack is built in, with an adjustable chimney opening that fits a range of pipe diameters instead of locking you to one stove. It seals around the pipe, so rain and snow stay outside where they belong.
This is what separates a winter tent with a stove from a tent you survive the winter in. Sub-freezing outside, shirt sleeves inside, gear drying by morning.
The stove is sold separately. You are buying the shelter and the port that makes stove heating possible. Size the stove to the tent afterwards, and run a carbon monoxide detector any night you burn.
Canvas Beats Nylon, and It Is Not Close
TC cotton canvas is the reason hot tent camping works at all. Nylon melts near a stove pipe and traps every bit of moisture you put into the air.
- No condensation running down the walls. Cotton fibers swell shut against rain while vapour still escapes outward.
- Warm in winter, cooler in summer. Canvas insulates against cold and blocks radiant heat in August. One tent, twelve months.
- Quiet in wind. No cracking and flapping at 3 a.m.
The honest trade: a canvas tent is heavier and it must go away dry. This is a vehicle-based tent, and it rewards you for treating it like one.
A Hot Tent With Nothing in the Middle
Every canvas bell tent puts a pole exactly where you want your table, your stove, or simply nothing at all. Then the conical roof takes the headroom away from you as you walk toward the wall, so a chunk of the floor you paid for is floor you can only crawl in.
The KHAN VILLA moves the support to dual side poles. The center is open. The sidewalls rise vertically instead of sloping, so cots sit against the wall and you stand up next to them.
Same canvas, same warmth, same look on a campsite. You just get the middle of the room back.
Cabin Tent Layout: Two Bedrooms and a Living Room
The detachable inner divides the tent into two private sleeping quarters with a living space between them. Kids on one side, adults on the other, and a real room in the middle that stays a room.
Pull the inner out and it is one open shelter for a group. You decide at the campsite, not at checkout, and one tent covers both trips.
A 4 Season Canvas Tent You Will Use Year-Round
Winter. Stove in, chimney up, canvas holding the heat.
Spring and autumn. Canvas seals as it wets out. Sealed seams and a waterproofed tub floor handle days of rain.
Summer. Open the windows, mesh panels and skylight, attach the UPF 50+ front piece, and you have a shaded outdoor room rather than a hot box.

Finish the Glamping Tent Setup
A canvas glamping tent is a hot tent somebody furnished properly. With no center pole in the way, real furniture fits.
Vertical walls mean cots and sleeping pads go against the wall with headroom to spare. Add sleeping bags rated below your overnight low and camp blankets for the hours after the stove burns down.
Furnish the middle with full-size camp chairs and a proper camp table, then fill the gaps from camp accessories. On a rained-out afternoon this is the whole difference.
Is This Hot Tent Right for You?
Yes, if you camp from a vehicle, stay put for more than a night, want separate sleeping quarters, or refuse to give up the outdoors in winter.
No, if you are backpacking, moving camp daily, or you specifically want the round silhouette of a classic bell tent. We would rather say so now than have you open the box and find out.
Everything else your basecamp needs is in camping gear.
Hot Tent FAQ
What is a hot tent?
A canvas tent built to be safely heated from the inside by a wood stove. It needs fabric that tolerates heat and a stove jack, the port that lets the chimney pipe pass through. Nylon tents cannot do either.
Does it come with a stove?
No. You are buying the tent and the built-in stove jack. Size the stove to the tent afterwards. The adjustable chimney opening means you are not locked to one model.
Is it safe to run a wood stove inside a tent?
Yes, in a tent built for it. Run a carbon monoxide detector every night, keep ventilation open, fit a spark arrestor, and never leave a burning stove unattended. Follow your stove manufacturer's clearances.
Is this a bell tent?
No, and that is deliberate. A canvas bell tent is round with a pole through the middle. This one is rectangular and center-free, with vertical sidewalls, so you keep the center of the floor and the headroom at the edges. Same canvas, more usable room.
How many people does it sleep?
Four to six. The detachable inner splits it into two private bedrooms with a living area between them, or comes out entirely for one open shelter.
Can you use a canvas hot tent in summer?
Yes, and it runs cooler inside than nylon because canvas blocks radiant heat. Open the windows, mesh panels and skylight, add the UPF 50+ front piece, and leave the stove jack closed.
Why canvas instead of nylon?
Canvas breathes, so you do not wake up to condensation running down the walls. It insulates in winter, blocks heat in summer, and it is quiet in wind. The trade is weight, and it has to be stored dry.
How long does a canvas tent last?
Years, if you never pack it away damp. That one rule prevents almost all canvas failure. Clean with cold water and a soft brush, store dry and out of sunlight. The tent carries a 3-year limited warranty.
